Oh dear. Now I understand the friend who buys a second seat for her baroque cello (and no, she is not obscenely wealthy).

We will avoid flying United. Clearly there is no Customer Service - seems a funny way to run a business. (And staff who are unhelpful are not treated well by superiors, or so it seems.)

I used to like United back when I was flying for business all the time, especially since they were the Air Canada partner in the US and Air Canada has always been good to me in terms of service.

But over the past few years I keep reading a lot of nonsense about United that makes us want to avoid them. For one, they'll almost certainly charge me double based on my size.

I hope the lady who was nice to the musician doesn't end up fired for being polite!
